The low level oil warning light or the oil pressure light on the instrument panel should not be used to know when to add oil to the engine. It is very likely that by the time this warning light has come one a lot of wear has occurred in the engine. Ensure you check your oil level regularly with a dip stick and stop driving the vehicle if this light is on or comes on intermittently when driving.
