A badly tuned engine can emit white smoke from the exhaust pipe however a vehicle with damaged top cylinder gasket will often produce this same symptom. To confirm if there is a gasket failure, look for signs of oil contamination in the radiator coolant and radiator coolant cap underside. Also look for signs of water in the engine oil dip stick. (the engine oil usually turns milk white if thoroughly mixed with water)
