Scope
This training is designed to complement the capabilities of the road-side mechanic. Trainees are to act as Service Consultants and as such the focus of the training is on the Electrical and Electronic aspect of the automobile engine.
Particular emphasis is on Fuel and Ignition systems made by Bosch , Toyota , Lucas and AC-Delco because they represent the basic designs of systems fitted to most vehicles on the road today. Analysis of live data extracted from the vehicles computer is also a major part of the training program as well as understanding of various engine management wiring diagrams.
The following are the major areas that are covered in this program.
- Workshop safety
- Overview of Modern Engine design – Animations and Videos.
- Basic Electrical
- Fundamentals of Engine Management
- Ignition Systems,
- Fuel Systems,
- Emission Control Systems
- Engine Management Wiring
- On-board diagnostics II
- Vehicle Adaptation.
Course Materials
- Free S 610 OBD 2 Universal OBD2 Tool or equivalent
- Free High Impedance Digital Multimeter.
- Free DVD including megabytes of Documentation on essential technologies
- Free Fuel system tester
- Free Ignition system tester
Online training
How to upload your data weekly
Class room session on topics provided on course CDs.
Direct calls for tech support options
The participant is expected to work with the tools given in any workshop of his choice during the subsequent eight week period and will get adequate technical support. He is also expected to upload information on at least one vehicle per week and report both the customer complaint and diagnosis given during the period using the OBD 2 tool supplied. The customers phone number must also be included to help in verifying the trainees claims.
This S610 tool provided will not work on some early Mercedes E class vehicles with 38pin diagnostic socket or some BMW E39 with BMW 20 pin diagnostic socket , also some early model Avalon and Lexus still have the Toyota 17 pin connector .
However most vehicles built after 1998 can be accessed using this tool though Actuation functions and some manufacturer specific information will not be available. In all the tool can harvest up to twenty two live engine parameters that are critical for the training period , perform readiness test , retrieve error codes , clear error cods and supports the CAN BUS II protocol.
Based on the weekly reports and the online exam at the end of the practical period , the trainee can apply to be part of our network . We reserve the right to refuse such an application if the trainees performance is not satisfactory.
