He revealed shyly, that what he really wanted was money though he studied
Engineering, but has since realized that money resides in banks. His logic was irrefutable
so we let him continue with his dreams.
One dude that came from Lagos state had graduated a few years earlier. He appeared with
quite a load of certificates. He assured us he had his CISCO and A+ certification and had
just completed training in Oracle 12i and really wanted to know what certificate we will be offering for the program.
We inquired to know what he was doing at the moment and he said that he was actually
starting training on an MSCD (Microsoft Certified Developer) course and was trying to choose between it and the course we were offering. He insisted that he learnt fast and was a very smart guy (obviously) and that he could learn everything in just two weeks. He also insisted he could combine our program and the MCSD .
This certificate gatherer was an interesting creature as he kept on informing us of how
intelligent he was. We weren’t quite sure what he wanted. We explained to him that the
course was not meant for people looking for jobs or trying to get promoted, it was for
people trying to create small and medium scale enterprises and as such our certificate is
our ability to satisfy the customer by repairing his vehicle affordably.
Anyway, we parted ways when it became apparent that we were not going to issue any
certificates as we intend to issue one only after a workshop had been started and run for a
while by the trainees.
Another man can from where we knew not. Dressed like a penguin in black suit, white
shirt and a black bow tie. We suspected he just lost his job but he insisted that he was a
manager and wanted to manage the whole process for us. We asked him which process he
wanted to manage since we were developing the process.
He said that he will manage the process of developing the process. The intellectualization of our problem was not helping matters and we knew that though he might be right, however, we were not operating on the same frequency with this management guru . We did not have the manpower and he was not going to deliver it. End of story.
Like an apparition from Lourdes, this beautiful lady appeared expressing his love for the
speakers at the seminar and informed us of her love for big and beautiful cars and how
with her experience with the cars and their owners she could draw both unto us. As
tempting as the offer was, we realized that we did not have any goods to deliver even if
she drew all the Hummers in town to us since our problem was that of basic manpower
disappearance.
And on and on they came, and on and on they left, until we were left with ten virgins –
